Leah Teschner
Leah is a Clinical Psychologist who offers assessment and treatment for people who are experiencing challenges with their mental health, that are preventing them from achieving their full potential. She strives to provide an environment where her clients feel safe, and a therapeutic space that allows clients to express themselves and learn new skills. Leah has had a variety of roles in the psychology domain. Earlier in her career, she worked predominantly in forensic environments in the UK with adult males and youth who engaged in offending behaviour. Since moving to New Zealand she has worked in forensics, addictions, adolescent mental health, adult mental health and physical rehabilitation. Her variety in work experience has afforded her the opportunity to work with clients on an individual basis, with their family and/or partners and in group settings. She is passionate about her role and believes it is a great privilege to assist people to find ways to alleviate their challenges and achieve their full potential. Leah is trained in a range of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Metacognitive Therapy, Mentalisation Based Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. Her approach is to work with the client to find the modality which will work best for them to ensure the best therapeutic outcome.
Leah has a keen interest in working with people who experience anxiety, emotional dysregulation, trauma, and the secondary effects of neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD. She can provide adult and adolescent ADHD and Autism assessments. Leah is a registered ACC Sensitive Claims Therapist.
